A Message From Our President

Greetings Lyons Mill Family,
The first part of our school year is almost over. I can’t believe how fast this semester has gone. While it has been a challenging school year, I commend you all for your perseverance. Thank you to our teachers for your time and patience with our children during this difficult time. Parents, I sincerely ask that you would continue to be patient with our teachers, check your emails that are sent, keep the lines of communication open, and every now and then take the time to say “ thank you” to our teachers and staff. Although our school building is closed and we are not able to meet in person, the PTA would like to let our families know that we are still here doing all that we can to support you and advocate for our children.

So far we were able to have our “ Candy Drive Through”, in lieu of our Trunk or Treat event, and we sponsored a “pumpkin carving contest”. Congrats again to our winners! We had our first virtual family night, with our very own Coach K, an evening of exercise and meditation. For Thanksgiving we collected food donations for Thanksgiving baskets that were given to a couple of our families. Thank you to all who were able to donate to that cause.
We have more activities that are coming up before this year closes out. Information will be posted in our newsletter and on our PTA website which can be assessed through our school website. Special thank you to our first grade teacher Alicia Cagnolatti for updating our monthly newsletter and website!

Lastly, I would like to send my condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one this year. Our children have been affected mentally, and emotionally this school year. Please take the time to talk with your child to make sure they are ok. Check their social media pages for any conversations or posts that may not be normal for your child. Outside of the PTA I work in a pediatric emergency room and I’ve been seeing first hand the mental and psychological effects of this challenging year on our children. If you feel your child may need someone to talk to please don’t be afraid or ashamed to reach out for help. We also have our school counselors, Mr. Menikheim and Ms. Arrington, who are also available to assist.

If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns please feel free to contact us at Also, we will be sending more information regarding our membership drive which will start at the beginning of the year. Please email the PTA so we can connect you to Mrs. Rubina Collier, our secretary and membership chair.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone during our next virtual PTA meeting.

How much does it cost to join?

The cost to join the PTA is $10 per person.  Membership dues must be paid each school year.

Do I have to volunteer if I become a member?

LMES PTA loves our volunteers and could always use a helping hand, however, members are not required to volunteer.

How can I become a member?

Information regarding membership will be available soon.  Be sure to check out our "Membership" page for membership forms and payment information.
